Ultimo Village Voice (UVV)

Ultimo Village Voice (UVV) formed in November 2004, following the demise of the Ultimo Precinct Committee. In 2011 Gerald Ganglbauer closed The Ultimo Society, leaving Ultimo Village Voice as Ultimo’s active community group.

Ultimo Village Voice independently serves the Ultimo community. It promotes cooperation and builds cohesion within the community by providing a means for the resolution of community issues. Issues have included unfiltered exhaust emissions, the loss of direct access to the city, the Under the Freeway area, crime and safety, traffic on Bulwara Road, and management of the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre.

In collaboration with other community organisations the group works towards improving the social, economic and physical environment by providing links with the Council and other Government agencies.

Issues that affect residents and small businesses in the local area are discussed when the group meets on the first Thursday of each month (except January) from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, at the Ultimo Community Centre, 40 William Henry Street, Ultimo.
