New York Hotel

50 Union Street.

The New York Hotel was established in 1880 and closed in late 1998. The building still stands on the corner of Union Street and Edward Street and is used as offices and a doctor’s surgery.

The pictures of this hotel starkly illustrate the changing nature of Pyrmont. In 1980 it is surrounded by storage silos which by 2010 have been replaced by modern office buildings, Coles supermarket and The Star Casino.
